Doing it right, and the binge

My “weekend” is Monday and Tuesday, and this one I’m spending at the sort-of-quarterly writing binge. God willing and the crick don’t rise, I’ll have this current draft of The Swan Harp done by Tuesday night. I’m bringing a bottle of bubbly for celebration purposes.

I think I must be doing something right with this novel. I write in the car on the way to work, and when I look up and fold my laptop closed, we’re almost at work and I feel like I’ve been very far away for a long time. I’m hoping my absorption in this novel signals good things for the readers’ absorption in it.

This week I’m the featured writer at mywithershins.wordpress.com, if you want to take a look. It’s a good blog, and I pop in there frequently.

I know this is a short post, but the big push is on to get The Swan Harp done, and that’s where my writing time is going. I’ll check in on Wednesday – or maybe late Tuesday night, and let you know how it went, and if I actually got to open the bubbly. If I have anything to say about it – and I believe I do – the news will be good. In the meantime, it’s butt in the chair, fingers on the keyboard. Oh, yes, and after the last binge, where the power blip ate five hours’ work, it’s frequent manual backups, too.

Wish me luck.
