Stories in the North is holding a short story contest! Today they revealed the theme – summer outdoors. The theme has to be a part of the story, but doesn’t need to be the central thing about the story. Genre doesn’t matter, and there’s no lower limit to the word count, although 5000 words is the top limit. If you live in Algoma, even part of the year, you can enter.
The entry fee is $5.00, and there are three prizes – $50 for first, $30 for second and $20 for third – in each of two divisions. Adult writers are 19 and older, and young writers are 18 and under. I would be all over this except for the fact that a) I’m a member of the Stories in the North board, and so ineligible and b) I have a novel to write. Did I mention that I have the summer off to write? Maybe I did.
Take it and run, people!
